About the Founder

Anna Doghramdjian Bruno was born in Yerevan, Armenia in 1972. She emigrated to the United States in 1991. Anna graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1997. Having a special interest in finance, she completed elective coursework in economics, statistics, and investments. Anna started her financial career at Raymond James Financial Services INC. in 1998 as a financial advisor. She subsequently held a similar position at Solomon Smith Barney from 1999 to 2002. She established her own financial planning practice, Anna Bruno & Associates, in 2003 using
AXA Advisors, LLC as her broker-dealer. Anna earned a Certificate in Retirement Planning from The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania with designation as a Retirement Planning Specialist in 2009.

In February 2021 Anna Established the Thrive Armenia Foundation, a New York State registered not-for-profit organization. TAF’s vision is for a flourishing and prosperous Armenia that is economically and technologically advanced. TAF’s mission is to advance the standard of living in Armenian communities by providing resources to people of all ages with our educational programs, cultural initiatives, and collaborations with other organizations. TAF is currently working on the following projects:

– Fundraising to help with utility and heating bills for former soldiers and their families as well as refugees from Artsakh.
– Teaching employable skills such as English language, business English, digital marketing, bookkeeping through QuickBooks, business planning, and many more marketable skills.
– Opening GSA affiliate schools in Artsakh and in other regions of Armenia.
– Representing and promoting artists and artisans that produce a variety of products made in Armenia.
– Connecting diaspora children and adults through web-based courses such as chess, art, doll making, and jewelry design.

Also in 2021, Anna established the Get Skills Academy (GSA) to function as the educational arm of Thrive Armenia Foundation. GSA’s mission is to support former soldiers (and their family members) who took part in the Second Artsakh War, those displaced from Artsakh, and other vulnerable individuals. GSA strives to help them learn new professions so that they are more competitive in securing employment not only in Armenia but also in the international marketplace. Anna and her family were active members of the Holy Martyrs Armenian Church in Bayside, NY from 2000-2013. Anna has demonstrated a history of volunteerism. Because of her background, Anna was elected to serve on the board of the Holy Martyrs Permanent Trust fund committee from 2011-2013. Anna also served as a member of the Parish Council for St. Gregory Armenian Church in White Plains, NY from 2016-2017. In 2004 Anna volunteered her expertise to the Children Of Armenia Fund (COAF) and traveled to Armenia with the mission of monitoring the progress of various projects sponsored by COAF. Anna has also mentored many young professionals of the AGBU (Armenian General Benevolent Union) NYSIP program between 2005 and 2017. Anna has been an invited speaker and lecturer about personal finance to many interested groups and associations.

She now resides in Thornwood, NY with her husband Michael, and their three children, Alexander, Andrew, and Katherine.
